BYPO Winter Concert

The Bay Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO) is more than just a simple youth orchestra - it is a tight-knit fellowship that brings together students of all ages, backgrounds, and locations. These talented young musicians join forces to embrace their shared love for music, striving for nothing less than performance excellence.

A youth orchestra concert is about building and bringing the community together.
— -Judy Lam, BPYO Artistic Director

The dedication and support we receive from our community is truly remarkable, evident by the consistently packed houses for every concert. Not only do parents, families, and our loyal audience members eagerly attend, but our city and county officials also demonstrate their unwavering commitment by making it a point to be present at our performances. Their partnership with the Bay Philharmonic goes beyond sponsorship, as they actively provide platforms to showcase the remarkable talent of our young musicians. It is a humbling experience to witness the culmination of the hard work of our youth musicians at the end of each concert, as the applause swells and resonates through the venue, warming our hearts.

The overwhelming support only fuels our determination to continue pushing boundaries and creating beautiful music together.

About this concert and BPYO:

Bay Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO) concerts are a great way to inspire young children to explore an interest in music. The January 13, 2024, concert program includes works by master composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn, Purcell, Elgar, Schumann, but also contemporary works from living composers. It is often quite interesting how the compositions are related to the life stories of these composers. Sharing these stories triggers the imagination and creativity of our young musicians and young audiences alike.

It is also exciting to see the transformation of young minds both on stage and in the audience. In addition to the orchestral pieces, there are two special features in the program.

Perfect 4ths, a BPYO quartet, will be performing a contemporary Tango composition and featured is the Winner of the Young Artist Competition who will be announced after the competition on 1/6/24.
