Program Auditions

New member Audition

BPYO is accepting new enrollments for the current season and auditions are ongoing. BPYO Director will contact you with an audition time via email. A non-refundable audition fee $25.00 is due when submitting an audition request.

Auditions are open to young musicians from ages 7 to 20; younger, talented players will be considered with recommendation from their private instructor. Entrance auditions are open for all instruments.

Returning Member Promotion Audition

Current students who may be requesting promotion audition to a next level ensemble, must submit a new audition application and submit the fee. Please also indicate the group you want to audition for.

Once the application is received, the director will schedule an in-person audition appointment. (Please note that such audition does not warrant an automatic promotion, the decision to promote is by merit of the audition performance only.)

Audition Requirements

  • Bravi

    Intermediate Ensemble

    • Prospective members should have minimum 1.5 years ongoing weekly lessons (or with teacher’s referral),

    • One prepared solo piece or etude,

    • One major scale of your choice, in as many octaves as possible.

  • Virtuosi

    Advanced Ensemble

    • Prospective members should have minimum 2 years ongoing weekly lessons,

    • One prepared solo piece in contrasting style and tempo showing your abilities and musicianship,

    • Two major scale of your choice, in as many octaves as possible,

    • Sight-reading is required for all instruments.

  • Percussion

    Both Bravi & Virtuosi ensembles

    • Prospective members should have minimum 1 years ongoing weekly lessons,

    • One prepared piece or study to demonstrate your appropriate performance skills on snare drum and mallets,

    • Sight-reading is required.

*Audition duration is 8-10 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to warm-up before the audition.
